The causes of concrete settlement and sinking are the same whether it's a driveway, walkway, patio, garage floor, or pool deck. As soil underneath a concrete slab shrinks, settles or washes away, this leaves empty space, or voids, beneath the slab. With the soil no longer supporting the slab, the concrete will sink, creating an uneven surface.

This was the case for the front concrete stoop of this home in Plover, WI.  

To lift and level this home's front stoop, Sure-Dry Basement Systems used their PolyLevel® Injection Foam system.   PolyLevel® is an expanding polyurethane foam that is injected beneath the concrete to fill the gaps caused by soil erosion and raise and stabilize the concrete surface.

IceGuard Discharge Line System installed on this home in Plover to ensure that any water being pumped outside from their sump pump won't freeze and cause water to back up during the cold winter months. 

Sump pump discharge lines are fed outside the home, meaning it's possible they could freeze during the cold winter months. A backed-up discharge line means your sump pump won't work properly in the event of water in your basement, which will make the flooding much worse. Our solution to this problem is the IceGuard® discharge line system.

The IceGuard® fits over the top of your discharge line to provide water with a secondary escape route. When the main line is working correctly, water simply flows out as usual. However, when the discharge line is frozen, the IceGuard® allows water to escape through slotted openings in the drain pipe. This ensures that any water your sump pump is removing from your basement is safely cleared away outside your home, preventing any backed-up or frozen lines. The IceGuard® is compatible with all our sump pump systems.

When the homeowners in Plover, WI, discovered cracks in their basement walls letting in water, they knew they needed a solid fix. As you can see in the 'before' photo, water seepage had begun to take its toll. Stepping in to help, our team installed FlexiSpan to effectively seal the cracks, WaterGuard to ensure proper drainage, and then a  SuperSump to pump out any intruding water. Before:
A homeowner in Plover had a settled front covered porch slab. The porch had sunk at the outer edge, creating an uneven step at the entry, a toe-stub lip near the walkway, and small gaps opening along the siding and column bases. During rains, water lingered on the slab and worked into open joints, pushing freeze–thaw damage each season.

After:
We injected PolyLevel® beneath the porch to fill voids and gently lift the slab back to a level, properly pitched position. We then sealed perimeter joints and cracks with NexusPro®, installing backer where needed and finishing with color-match sand for a clean, finished look.

The entry is now level with safer, more uniform step heights, improved drainage off the porch, and sealed joints to help prevent future settlement.
