A milk barn on a Deerbrook dairy farm was over 20 years old and the owners were concerned that they would start having serious issues with the foundation and walls as they had started noticing signs of settlement from recent excavation work. They wanted to ensure that the structure was stabilized and stayed in good working order for many years to come and prevent further damage from happening and they know that having the work done to protect the large structure before they had issues is much less expensive and would take less time than replacing the barn completely. To stabilize the foundation and prevent future settlement, we excavated the foundation wall and supported the footers to stabilize the barn. To lift and support the structure, we utilized Helical Piers, which derive their name from the Helical Plates welded to the Pier shaft. During installation, these plates help pull the Pier into the soil and provide anchoring strength to transfer the structure's weight to the pier. As additional sections can be added to the pier, it offers excellent versatility for stabilizing and restoring foundations and masonry elements. The owners were very satisfied with the results and happy that they can have peace of mind knowing the structure is stable and protected.
