Supporting an Unstable Crawlspace with SmartJacks in Stephenson, MI

Challenge

Homeowner Randall from Stephenson, MI, called to have a free estimate done on his unstable and wet crawlspace.

The previous homeowners had put some concrete blocks up to keep the crawlspace from sagging which is an incorrect solution and can lead to greater problems.

They also waterproofed the crawlspace incorrectly because water had been accumulating in the crawlspace overtime. If these homeowners didn't address this issue when they did, the water could have gotten up to their wooden floor joist and could have caused very bad problems but we knew we had just the solution for them.

Solution

Our installation crew installed 8 SmartJacks in their crawlspace. These jacks will support the weight of the home and will never rust or corrode guaranteeing them a good strong support system in their crawlspace.

After installing the SmartJacks we encapsulated the crawlspace with CleanSpace. CleanSpace is like a thick pool liner except a pool liner keeps water in, CleanSpace keeps water out! It has a clean white finish to it, to make their crawlspace look brighter and cleaner!

Now that these homeowners have just the solutions they have been waiting for, they couldn't be happier!

It is clear to see in this photo the way this crawlspace is being supported is not safe. The crawlspace is also not waterproofed correctly either. If this crawlspace accumulated water and got into the wooden floor joist, these homeowners would have major problems.

We installed SmartJacks to have a secure and strong support system that will never rust or corrode. This will continue to keep the floors above leveled. Followed by SmartJacks we encapsulated the crawlspace in CleanSpace therefore, no water can enter into the crawlspace and cause more damage.
