This homeowner had noticed that her boat house floor was settling towards the water, and she wanted to see what could be done to fix the issue and preserve the boat house in dedication to her husband’s passion and love for sharing it with their grandkids. She wants to have the peace of mind that the boat house is safe for the kids to fish out of. During the inspection process, we did find that the boat house floor was indeed settling towards the water. After climbing out over the water and inspecting under the floor, we found a lot of loose gravel which looked to be washing out towards the water. The waterfront of the boat house was constructed with 2x12’s. However, there were still gaps between the boards that was allowing gravel and soil to wash out into the water. This looks to have been something that had been gradually happening over the past 20 years at least and had led to the level of pitch being a safety issue for when her grand kids were out there fishing. When offering a solution to the homeowner, we talked about how Poly Level Injection Foam and NexusPro can greatly help slow down the rate at which the settlement was happening and even lift the slab back up to maximum practical recovery. We also spoke about the level of confidence and expertise our Poly crews have. After talking about the different options, the homeowner decided to not only lift and level the slab in the boat house, but to also have the walkway leading to the boat house fixed. This ended up being a very unique job, lifting and leveling a concrete slab along the water, with limited visibility to the problem area, made it a real challenge. When our crew tarted to work, they discovered the lift would take much more foam than anticipated. They went above and beyond to make sure that the homeowner understood what was happening and why, and she was comfortable and confident with the entire process. After the job was completed, I immediately heard from the homeowner. The first thing she said was, “The young men were here and did a GREAT job!” and followed-up with all the things that made her experience so wonderful. She was impressed with the communication from start to finish and said we went, “above and beyond” her expectations. They left no cleanup for her after they left. She was extremely happy with how the boat house turned out and recommended us to her neighbor. These are the situations that make what we do all worth it. We helped a family preserve a memory and save it so they could continue to enjoy it!
