Basement Water & Iron Ochre Issues Eliminated in Tomahawk, WI

Challenge

The customer has lived at this home for many years and has had water issues in one area of his basement for most of that time. He has also had issues with orange staining and dirt across the floor where the water was coming in.

He is now selling the home and as people have been looking at the home, they have been turned off by the staining and water issue and it had been making it difficult to sell the home without having this issue repaired.

Upon our inspection, it was identified that this home had a water issue as well as Iron Ochre bacteria in the water that made this problem very difficult to solve with a standard water control system.

Solution

Upon our inspection, it was identified that this home has developed Iron Ochre bacteria in the water as a result of basement flooding. To fix these issues, we installed our WaterGuard Iron Ochre Perimeter Drain as well as a new SuperSump Plus Premier Sump Pump System to collect the water and effectively pump it back outside. The perimeter drain product we installed is a modified version of our WaterGuard system and includes an extra-wide drain channel and larger drainage openings. To allow for easy drain system maintenance if clogged, the drain system also includes an exposed, removable lid. This system will work to protect this home from the nasty appearance and smell iron ochre brings while helping prevent any water from seeping into the basement.

The homeowner reached out after the installation, saying he was very happy that now he can sell the home. He was very impressed with how hard the crew worked and thought the finished product looked great. More importantly, he is now able to sell his home with a solution that helps ensure the new homeowner will have a dry basement.
