Water & Humidity Issues Resolved in Manitowoc, WI

Challenge

This home in Manitowoc, WI was suffering from moisture and humidity issues that the homeowner wanted fixed. The problem with this home stems from it having a stone foundation with a basement and multiple crawlspaces. The foundation walls were leaking water from the mortar between the stones, which is normal for stone walls, but it was always wet and covered in efflorescence. The dirt crawlspaces and a lack of insulation were contributing to greatly increased humidity in the basement and crawlspace areas. 

Solution

Sure-Dry, LLC installed a full-perimeter WaterGuard Drainage System, as well as, covered the stone walls with CleanSpace Wall Vapor Barrier, to take care of the water leaking from the walls and guide it to a system to control it. A TripleSafe sump pump system was then installed to collect and dispose of the water being collected. The final solution was a Sedona home dehumidification system to control the humidity of the home. Even a basement with an effective waterproofing system can still develop moisture and mold problems and may feel damp. Stone and concrete walls and floors continually absorb moisture from the soil and release it into the air, and store-bought dehumidifiers simply aren't strong enough to solve the problem.
