Icy Sidewalk Issues Caused by Sump Pump Drainage Solved in Sheboygan, WI
Challenge
This Homeowner was tired of having to deal with his city sidewalks being iced up in the wintertime due to the water coming from his sump pump discharge pipe and adjacent downspout. He was constantly having to apply salt to the sidewalk so it wasn't a slip hazard and needed to figure out a way to have the water drain under the sidewalk instead of over it.
Solution
To fix the issue Sure-Dry was able to work collaboratively with the City of Sheboygan to acquire permission for the removal of a single slab of the city sidewalk, facilitating the homeowner's requested work. As part of its concrete replacement program, the city has committed to replacing this one slab for the homeowner in the upcoming spring and put the charge on his tax bill. This has spared the homeowner from the inconvenience of seeking out a concrete company to pour just one 5' x 5' slab, which is currently a near-impossible task.
Sure-Dry was able to connect the homeowner's sump pump discharge line, adjacent downspout, along with downspouts at the back of his home with our FlowGuard Downspout System and IceGuard Discharge Line System. The lines were then buried underground with 4" PVC and directed to the city's nearby catch basin, situated at the corner of his property.
The homeowner was thrilled with the results and very happy that not only would he not have to worry about the icy sidewalks, but that Sure-Dry coordinated all of the work directly with the city so he didn't have to.
