Sinking Block Wall Addition Stabilized & Saved in Colby, WI

Challenge

Over the six decades of living in their turn of the century two-story home, the homeowners watched the block walls under the back porch addition slowly deteriorate. Cracks caused by soil weight, water pressure, and frost push caused the wall to crack, bow, split, and shear. After watching the slow, yearly, progressive deterioration of their foundation, they were finally worried about it collapsing. Aware that they might need to sell the home in the near future to downsize, they also understood that this had to be repaired.

Solution

The north wall, with almost 5 inches of inward deflection, needed our EverBrace Wall Restoration System. The engineered solution utilizes a combination of heavy galvanized steel I-beams, sheeting, and foam to stabilize the wall and prevent any further movement. The east wall was less damaged and was able to be stabilized using our GeoLock Wall Anchor system.

Together these permanent foundation solutions saved their foundation addition and brought peace of mind long overdue. These repairs also restored the property value offering a fully transferable 25-year warranty for the next owner.
