Lake House Cottage Foundation Repaired in Gleason, WI
Challenge
The homeowners had purchased the cottage knew that there were some foundational issues but weren't aware of the extent of those issues. Once they realized how bad the issues were, they panicked and wanted to ensure that the foundation of the home was safe and stable. They intended to utilize the cottage as a guest house for their children who would visit the lake and wanted to make sure it was a secure place for them to stay. The homeowners were also planning to make some updates to the home, so they wanted to get the foundation repaired with cost in mind. After a thorough inspection, it was determined that the sinking of the cottage foundation was being caused by the soil between the basement and crawlspace of the home being undermined. Over time, this was causing the foundation to sink further into the ground, resulting in uneven doors, cracks in drywall and other building materials, and the chimney pulling away from the home. This had a profound impact on their peace of mind when using the home, which is why they were so eager to get it fixed.
Solution
Sure-Dry was able to permanently stabilize the foundation and lift to maximum practical recovery using Helical Piers. It was determined that this was best product for the situation as it would allow us stabilize directly underneath of the footing as the footing was not uniform and the foundation wall was not very tall. While most of the work was done on the inside of the home, the homeowners did have to remove their patio as part of the prep work so we could access the exterior of the foundation wall. The solution presented was different than what other contractors have to offer because it requires less disruption to the property and offers a 25-year warranty on installation.
