Challenge
The first months after moving their young family into the 1956 ranch-style forever home, it was made clear the need for safe bedroom spaces for their kids. The 960 sq ft block basement was unfinished and future walls were marked out on the concrete floor but before framing and finishing, the homeowners needed egress windows added as well as an improved sump system. They didn’t want to invest time, money, and work without added protection.
A family member was doing the renovation, but they wanted to leave the adding of egress to professionals and that’s why Sure-Dry was called. We specialize in egress window solutions.
Solution
The wall where the bedrooms were being built had early stage one wall failure, so wall stabilization using our CarbonArmor Wall Restoration System was essential to a permanent, warrantied solution. In addition to preventing further inward deflection, this adds strength to the block wall after the removal of two sections of the wall for the installation of egress windows.
Their existing open pedestal sump system was replaced with our Super Sump Plus and Ultra Sump Battery Back-Up System, to provide a sealed, quiet, and reliable system and protect the soon-to-be-finished basement living spaces.
Financially, this was a large project just after moving in, so the homeowners were grateful to be able to utilize one of our financing options to get the project done right away. The entire project was completed in two days, which allowed them to get back to work quickly on the lower-level renovation plan with added safety and light for their kid’s new basement bedrooms.
